Chocolate Cake

Another day of sweets! After waking up to some light snow fall and another relaxing day studying I decided  to make the only type of cake I like...vanilla cake with homemade chocolate icing! Yummy!

Start with the first layer, place parchment paper under the cake while frosting it so you don't get any frosting on the dish (a trick I learned from Bare Foot Contessa)! Use the icing as glue to keep the layers together. I also cute off the top of the 2 bottom layers of cake so that they are flat and even.

Add the other two layers the same way and begin to ice the cake.

Perfection! Enjoy!

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Today, my sister and I were bums and stayed in all day watching movies and keeping warm by the fire. As the day progressed we got a craving for something sweet, fresh and chocolate....so naturally we had to make chocolate covered strawberries! Yum!

First, melt the chocolate. Place a pot of water on the stove and heat the water, set a bowl on top of the pot and put in the chocolate chips. The steam from the water will melt the chocolate. Keep a close eye on the chocolate because you don't want it to burn and curdle. It only takes a few minutes to melt, stir until it is smooth consistency.

Use a teaspoon to spread a generous amount of chocolate on the bottom three-quarters of the strawberry.

Place a sheet of wax paper on a cookie sheet to ensure that the chocolate won't adhere to the cookie sheet. Place the strawberries in the fridge for 10 to 20 minutes so that the chocolate has time to harden.

Vwalah! Perfect chocolate covered strawberries! Enjoy!

Harper's Ferry

At the Weverton Cliffs, West Virginia over looking the view!
Check out my mismatch hiking gear!

A cute little vintage shop that my friends and I stumbled upon while checking out Harper's Ferry historic little town.

A awesome find from the Vintage Lady!
My awesome new walking shoes! I love that they are hot pink!

A super scary wax man in the window at the Wax Museum in Harper's Ferry, WV.

I hope to have some more awesome adventures and outfits for you guys soon!

Sunday School

Pleated skirts two days in a row?! I think I may be obsessed!  I bought this dress almost a year ago while I was in Paris and haven't really had any occasion to wear it. I figured a church outing with the family was the perfect excuse to wear such a delicate, sheer, conservative pleated dress.

I love the juxtaposition of the soft sweet dress with the jagged textured exterior of my jacket. I hope you guys appreciate it too!

Chilly Days

I always like to start the new year by refocusing on the most important people in my life so my sister and I decided to take a weekend adventure to visit family in southern New Jersey. I hope that everyone had a great holiday season and a happy new year! What's your new years resolution? I did not make one this year, but regardless I feel like its going to be a great year for me. Welcome 2013!

The chilly bright sunny weather inspired me to break out my super comfy Cole Haan wedge boots and my red peacoat! Check it out!
I love the detailing on this shirt. It is feminine and delicate.
Usually, I'm not a big animal print girl, but I figured this skirt was the perfect balance. The super thin pleats give it depth while keeping it light and flirty!
