Girl's Night Out

After an incredibly busy week, I definitely needed a night out with my friends to help me relax and decompress.  The weather has been a bit tricky lately, either too chilly to wear a light-weight dress without a blazer or  too warm to wear legging with boots. In an effort to beat the weather and keep warm without wearing a jacket (I hate bringing jackets to lounges/clubs) I decided to settle for my black leather skirt with a black and copper sparkly sweater. I am pretty conservative when it come to clothing so I though that showing off the legs in a cute playful skirt would kept the outfit sexy and classy at the same time!

Tell me what you think!

Grey Day, Orange Pants

The grey cloudy weather today, reminded me of gloomy winter. Since Spring is my favorite time of year and I so desperately want the weather to be warm and sunny, I thought it would be fun to add some a pop of color  to the grey day in the spirit of spring! I recently bought a pair of orange denim Blank NYC jeans from Madewell and I knew that they would be a great center piece for the outfit. I paired the jeans with a white & navy oversized stripped sweater, a dark wash (campstone) chambray,  a gold leaf necklace and my favorite cobalt blue flats. I kept the hair and make-up pretty basic to go with the laid back feel of the outfit.

Color denim can sometimes be a tough piece for people to work with, but I love a fashion challenge so I always try to have fun with it. My staple  for any outfit is a blazer; I pair it with skirts, dresses, trousers, cargo pants, jeans-- the sky is the limit!  So if your stumped by colored pants wear them with a basic t-shirt/tank and a blazer, such a cute simple outfit. The other week, I wore these jeans a with a chunky brown and white sweater, a navy blue blazer and long necklace. Try to not get too caught up on the color of the pants and don't worry about matching them exactly with the colors in the rest of your outfit. Just use the jeans as your starting point and let your imagination run wild!

Some places you can find color jeans: Gap, Jcrew, Zara, Nordstrom and Loft. I have a wide range of colors including: mint, mustard, neon yellow, fuschia, orange, red and maroon.

Spring Preview

Once upon a time there was a jean jacket... isn't this how all the best fashion adventure always begin? You know when  buy a new piece that you are just dying to showcase a million different ways? Well, my must have spring item (one of many) is the denim jean jacket I got from Madewell. As you all know,  I have recently been on a denim binge and this week is all about my relatively new denim jacket. I was initially wary of the whole jean jacket trend/lifestyle, but the closer it gets to spring the more I have began to think about all the new and creative ways I can make it fit my style.

When it comes to spring and summer I am all about maxi skirts, maxi dresses and anything else that is fun, flirty and colorful. Today I decided to pair my jean jacket with a simple cotton grey tank top, leaf gold necklace and a bright purple pleated maxi skirt with a brown braided belt! This is actually my first time wearing the skirt since I ordered it months ago online, so when I saw the forecast today was mid- 50's , I knew it was time to debut this magnificent pleated beauty. I love the column shape of the skirt, it elongates my body without dwarfing or overwhelming my petite frame.

Jean Jacket Revival

It's official the Jean Jacket is back! I was a skeptic for a while about trying to rock the jean jacket for a second time in my life. Jean jackets take my back to the days of elementary school playing on the playground and monkey bars with my friends. They made me feel childish. As you all know , I have recently got on a denim kick and after some convincing from my co-workers I decided to give the jean jacket another chance. I bought a shrunken cropped jacket because I thought it would pair best with all my sundresses and compliment my small stature. I hope I was right!

Today was the first day I wore my jacket, I paired with a black and white stripped dress and some black leather motorcycle boots. I wanted the outfit to look cute with a bit of an edge from the leather boots. I was recently reviewing spring trends for a possible blog internship. I wrote about my concerns regarding black and white being the "new spring" sensation. Black and white stripes or prints do not scream spring to me, but after pairing with the jacket I have changed my opinion. Although, all black and white outfits still remind me of my elementary chorus concerts,  I can appreciate the colors in moderation.
(Don't mind the outlet.)

I love the detailing of the jacket, its the perfect color!

Tell me what you think of my outfit? Are you a fan?
Until next time, toodles!

Color & Stripes

Spring is my favorite season of the entire year and although its newly march, I am determined to rush the weather into spring. So, in an effort to bribe the weather into spring I have decided to slowly start bringing my skirts out of the storage. This stripped shirt I got from Forever 21 a while ago, but it has served as a staple in my wardrobe. I wanted to showcase this piece with some color and layers! I think that the teal was a perfect compliment to the black & white skirt; I gave the outfit some depth by layering a colored shirt underneath of the sweater and added a bright necklace. I kept the shoes pretty basic to finish off the look. Enjoy!

The double collar again! I am in love!

I love that these shoes look really worn and broken in. It makes the look a little more casual!

Til we meet again!

Obsessed: Chambray Shirts

So I just started working at a new major retailer and the clothing and styling has been a bit of an adjustment for me, but I am really trying to fit into my new work environment without loosing a sense of my own personal style. Despite the cold weather, I was determined to wear a skirt today! I paired my chambray shirt with a gold necklace, a orange skirt and patterned belt. This new job places alot of emphasis on layering and trying new combinations of color, texture and pattern. I hope you enjoy!

Chambray shirts in all washes are my new favorite piece! They are an absolute staple because they can easily go from day to night and from casual to somewhat dressy- although I wouldn't wear it to the office! I am expanding my range of chambray shirts from a dark wash to the light wash and maybe even a western more tinted wash!

I really love using a necklace as a second collar! It adds texture, color and more dimension to the outfit in a quick an easy way.

Hope you enjoyed!
