My Georgetown Outing

Let me start off with saying that I am NEVER off of work on Saturdays. I have a part-time job at a retail so I am usually stuck inside the mall on the weekends; luckily I was off this Saturday and decided to take full advantage.

My friends and I went into Washington D.C. for the day to have lunch, shop and just enjoy the wonderful weather (when it was not raining). Washington D.C. has wide variety of stores, especially Chinatown and Georgetown. Since none of us had been to Georgetown in quite some time we decided to make the trip to the retail capital of D.C.!

Georgetown is a historic area that appeals to both the young and old. There is something for everyone, whether you are a bargain shopper, restaurateur, window shopper or antique lover.

What I love most about Georgetown are the houses. The architecture is absolutely stunning; the colorful brick row houses intermixed with lavish mansions are just wonderful to experience. The roads are either brick or cobble stone, which builds to the overall historic vibe. I love the juxtaposition of the row houses with the young trendy shops that line the street.

I have been to Georgetown several times and it is always swarmed with people. It is especially busy in the spring and summer months because it is by the water and people love to shop, eat outside and people watch.

Even though today was a bit rainy there were still tons of people out and about shopping and enjoying the warmer weather. Most of the shops that I frequent at Georgetown are also in my local mall, but the selection, visual displays and variety of stock is so much better at Georgetown.

Some of the shops there include: H&M, J Crew, Madewell, Zara, Urban Outfitters, Levi’s, Steve Madden, Brooks Brothers, Apple, Banana Republic and All Saints. And for those shoppers, like my friends and I, who need snacks throughout the trip there are plenty of places to stop and grab a bite such as Godiva Chocolate, Starbucks, Haagen Dazs, Johnny Rocket and Clydes.

My friends and I first stopped into J. Crew, which was a mad house! There were customers and staff everywhere. As usual my fashion advice was much needed by my fashion impaired traveling buddy. I helped her buy some adorable blush color suede flats and a pair of mint shorts.

Next we went to H&M, which was another crowded spot with less staff and more mess. Truthfully, I felt a bit overwhelmed by the amount of merchandise in the store, but we were able to find a few cute light weight dresses for only $29.95! Then it was time for a smoothie break at Haagen Dazs. Sidenote, I love smoothies, but usually cannot drink them because of the dairy. Luckily, I was able to get a non-dairy wildberry smoothie that was delicious!

After gulping down yummy smoothies we headed to Urban Outfitters, where the sales section was busting at the seams with cute dresses and tops! Finally, we wrapped up our trip with a stop at Madewell and Zara.

I had a great day off with my friends and I am so glad that I did not waste it just laying around the house!

Have you been to Georgetown in Washington D.C.? Where is your favorite place to shop?
