Recyclable Hair And Beauty Trends

My favorite aspect about fashion is that it is forever being recycled and reinvented. Today, as I was surfing the web I found a cute article on InStyle‘s website about how celebrities are bringing old trends into modern times, some of my favorites included…

The wine lip color was a sensation this past fall and winter and I was wholeheartedly jumped on this bandwagon. I had several wine colored lipsticks that I wore in rotation throughout the fall and winter months. I was obsessed! I studied how to properly wear the color without looking like a vampire.
I had no idea that this trend was popular as early as the ’20s and ’30s, spotted on stars like Clara Bow. Anne Hathaway also rocked the deep Bordeaux lipstick on the red carpet for the New York City premiere of Les MiserablesPerfection!
Another trend that is on the rebound is the top knot. I love this look because it is classic and chic which makes sense since the look is inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s tiara-adorned up-do in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.Although many of us do not walk around wearing tiaras with short choppy bangs and a top knot, we still manage to bring the over-sized bun look into modern times in an effortless way. Audrey’s sophisticated style has managed to stay with us all these years.
I have yet to infiltrate the world of hair dyes, but colored streaks is a trend this is not going anywhere anytime soon. Women may not be dying there entire head pink like singer Pink or Gwen Stefani, but they sure do enjoy a few streaks of color in their locks! I personally, I am not adventurous enough to try the trend, but people like January Jones and Kelly Osbourne make the look work for them!
When I am not sporting my deep Bordeaux lipstick I am all about the nude lip. My lips are naturally full so I love wear a color that is simple like a neutral nude lip gloss or lipstick. From Brigitte to Kim Kardashian this look is simple, sexy and great for balancing a smokey eye. Love it!
Cascading waves are gorgeous especially when Jessica Alba wears them with her ombre hair color. The ombre coloring brings this look from the silver screen to the red carpet circa 2013! According, to hair stylist Harry Josh, “the key to this look is a flawless blowout…the waves need to be completely controlled, and any hint of frizz will disrupt the style.” I am waiting until my hair grows a few more inches before tackling this awesome look!
I really admire Ginnifer Goodwin for her fashion choices and her stellar style. I especially love her pixie cut and ’60s lashes, which are a definite nod to British model Twiggy. Twiggy’s mod style inpsired women everywhere to rock a pixie cut with piecey false eyelashes. Ginnifer gives this look a more modern flare by using a swipe of peach shadow along her lash line.
Finally, the cat-eye is always my staple when it comes to eye makeup. I learned from watching Lauren Conrad on the Hills with her black liquid eyeliner. Warhol superstar Edie Sedgwick was the original cat-eye queen! She used to pile false lashes on top of her winged-out liner. Lauren Conrad has mastered the modern cat-eye without the lashes, but still looks fabulous! [via InStyle]
Lovelies, what is your makeup trend staple? Who do you channel when putting on your false lashes or nude lip?
