The Ultimate Spring Staple: Skirts

In the spring months, my staple go-to look ALWAYS starts with a skirt — it can be a maxi, mini or assymetrical — as long as it’s a skirt. Over the years I have accumulated a vast array of different types of shirts from a variety of places.
For my outfit, I decided to wear a pleated mini skirt that I recently purchased from ZaraThis jacquard skirt with neon lines is like nothing else that I own in my closet. Most of my skirts are one single color, I use that base color and pair it with a patterned top.

( Skirt: Zara, Tank: Madewell, Sandals: Sam Edelman, Ring: H&M, Purse: Steve Madden, Denim: Madewell)
This time I decided to try something new and wear a plain top with a more patterned skirt. I think that look was a total success! This skirt satisfies my love of bright colors and neon hues!
I kept the look pretty laid back by adding a blue cotton racer back tank and open chambray in sandstone wash. To play up the color in the skirt I wore my neon orange Steve Madden cross-body bag. For sandals I wore my favorite Sam Edelman sandals with a tiny metallic heel.
Believe it or not, but this look is slightly outside of my comfort zone since I very rarely wear blue garments (except for navy or cobalt blue), but the tank is so light and comfortable that I could not resist pairing it with the skirt. If the weather was warmer I would have just worn the tank and skirt with a statement necklace.
When writing this blog I decided to do a little bit of research on the different names and types of skirts that I actually wear. In my closet I have a few pencil skirts for the days that I have to work in an office environment.
Pencil skirts are usually a bit more fitted around the hips and end just above the knee. Most of the time they have a tiny slit up the back. I love pencil skirts because they round out my hips and make my derrière look great!
I am also a fan of the fitted flare skirts because the flare starts at the hips not the waist so it gives the illusion that I have a fuller hip and butt than I actually do! I love skirts that give my body a little more shape and curve appeal!
Mini skirts work wonders for petite women like myself because they elongate my legs, which is every short woman’s dream come true! I have several mini skirts in a multitude of colors, all of which I frequently wear. One mini skirt is just not enough to suffice for an entire spring season!
As you all are well aware of my obsession with straight maxi skirts, pleated maxi skirts (any type of maxi skirts) is boundless. Straight skirts generally look great on all types of women who range in height, shape and size. Depending on the quality of the piece this type of skirt looks good on practically everyone.
What is your spring staple? What is your favorite type of skirt?
