Steal or Splurge

There comes that moment in every girl’s life when you spot a pair of shoes and your heart stops, your eyes widen and in that instant you know those shoes have to come home with you! What if you happen to imprint on a pair $1,400 Alexander McQueen strappy black sandals, but your current salary does not afford you the luxuries of McQueen? What is a girl to do?

Although, I shop an unhealthy amount, I am a die-hard bargain shopper. It is important to me that I purchase quality items that will fill out my maturing wardrobe while not breaking the bank. Despite my budget conscious ways there are a few items that I am willing to splurge on if I truly believe that they are excellent quality and last a lifetime! I am willing to spend a little more on shoes, coats and purses.

As someone that has worked in retail for several years, I have a great eye for quality. Since I am constantly on my feet it is incredibly important for me to find comfortable shoes that are durable and stylish. Every woman knows that you have to pay for comfort and after working in shoe sales for a couple years.

Dealing with a variety of customer both young and old, I know how terrible foot problems can effect older women. So in an effort to avoid hammer toes and bunions I will continue to spoil my feet with comfort and class.

These Alexander McQueen strappy black sandals are beyond fabulous! They are beautiful, versatile and sophisticated. I have to consciously remind myself to breathe when I see them, but since I cannot afford the high price tag that accompanies these shoes I have found a few alternates that are equally as stunning and necessary
First, these strappy black chic sandal from Zara are great quality sandal and only 5% of the cost of the McQueen heels! That leaves plenty of money left over for you to buy an entire outfit to go with these lovely shoes without killing your credit card! The only majorly noticeable difference between these two fabulous shoes is the price tag and the McQueen heels have a chunky gold chain across the front strap.

If you really wanted the sandal to have a gold chain you could easily buy a bracelet and attach it to the front strap of the shoe! Then you would have an exact McQueen look a-like for a small percentage of the actual cost.

Another option is the KORS Michael Kors Mikaela patent leather sandal that Halle Berry wore at United Nations World Food Programme Dinner hosted by Michael Kors. These shoes are elegant and chic, although I have not personally tried them on, I do find his shoes to be very comfortable.

They are have a four inch heel which is great because it’s not too low, but it is also not incredibly high! I love thelook and the shape of this shoe, especially with the square toe box that provides more room for the foot. These shoes are around $250, but you if check places like Piperlime you can get that for $179! Bargain!

If you are just dead set on owning designer shoes, try to avoid paying designer prices by shopping at places like PiperlimeNordstrom RackLast Call by Nieman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th. This way you can be sure that they are legitimate designer shoes without paying the marked up retail price.

Good luck, ladies! Next week we will focus on another one of my favorite pieces to buy… purses!

What do you splurge on? Which shoe was your favorite?
